ADHD Assessment
FAQs
How do I know it makes sense to seek an ADHD evaluation?
If you are unsure about whether to pursue an evaluation for ADHD we recommend that you come in for an initial session to discuss your concerns. We will give you our best judgment about whether pursuing an assessment makes sense. You can also do some research and reading on ADHD from trusted sources. Additionally, you can take a screener for ADHD to help decide if you would like an assessment. ADHD like symptoms can occur when other problems, not ADHD, are the primary concern. Therefore, it is critical that ADHD be assessed in a thorough and thoughtful manner.
How do I prepare for the ADHD assessment?
No preparation is needed. Make sure you are well rested, nourished, and alert.
What do I need to bring to the ADHD assessment?
If you have completed ADHD rating scales for any other professional, please bring these as well. Even for adults, it is valuable to have records from childhood, if available.
Can I bring a family member to the assessment?
It may be valuable to have a spouse or partner attend the feedback session so they can understand how to better support you.
Is the assessment done in person or online?
Both! There are portions of the assessment that will be emailed for you to complete online. Other parts of the assessment require an in-person session.
What kind of accommodations can I receive after a diagnosis?
Depending on the results of the assessment, we will provide recommendations for accommodations at work and/or school. We will also discuss your next steps in treatment.
Do you prescribe ADHD medication?
Inner Wave Therapy does not prescribe medication. We can provide referrals to trusted psychiatrists who specialize in treating ADHD.
